Not many people know this, but the name of our online shop is actually derived from Hollywood megatalent Fred Astaire. We’ve always believed that great design should be as fun and entertaining as an old musical or a modern music video. We hope fredflare.com reflects this idea with a sparkling pop presentation of some of our favorite things. When we moved to NYC from Chicago, we couldn’t believe the stores here! We’d stroll around town window shopping and dreaming of making products to sell in the boutiques we admired. In 1998 we produced our first item, a pad of disposable drink coasters that we sold off the back of a bike in SoHo. Gradually, the fred flare line grew to include stationery, home decor items and accessories, available at sylish emporiums around the globe. Now we’re so excited to have our own "boutique" here at fredflare.com where we feature our house brand as well as tons of other brands we love. You can count on us to bring you great new items each week as well as lots of make-you-smile content: interviews, trivia, recipes, insider guides to NYC and much more.
