Jack Mackenroth was one of our fave designers on Project Runway right when the show started…We just knew he’d make it out on top! Although his early departure from Project Runway left us (and everyone else) stunned and sad, we knew it wouldn’t be the last time we saw him. We’re extremely excited to catch up with Jack to see what he is up to post-Project Runway, and also sneak peek of what’s to come! Your departure from Project Runway was emotional for us viewers and everyone on the show. How are you doing now?
I was 100% recovered 5 days later. But thank you for your concern. I just want to make it clear that the MRSA infection had NOTHING to do with my HIV status. The outpouring of support has been truly remarkable.

We’re sure the other designers were anxious to know how you were doing after you left. Were you able to keep in touch with them while they were still working and filming?
Unfortunately not. All the designers are sequestered through the entire filming of all the challenges. I was allowed to leave because I had to go to the hospital but no one else had a cell phone and I was not allowed back on set. Though almost all of them called me as soon as they we released which made me feel really good. It was a great group of people.

Who are your fashion gods?
Christian Siriano, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta, Balenciaga, McQueen…so many more…

Tell us about your cameo in the upcoming Sex and the City movie!
The casting director saw my picture and called me to meet the director. It was amazing. They had to cover all my tattoos so I got to sit in the make-up trailer with Kristin Davis and SJP. They were so cool. Sarah Jessica looked at me for a second and was like, “How do I know you?” I had to whisper “Project Runway” She squealed.

The shoot was incredible. She has so many fans that there were literally thousands of people standing off camera screaming whenever the shot was over. I had to walk past the 4 girls and Kim Cattrall would check out my ass and then I had to kiss my “boyfriend” who happened to be a straight actor. It was fun!

We were huge fans of your work on PR and totally need a fix! What are you up to now?
Thanks! Well I’m hoping to go on next season to finish what I started and that is quickly approaching so I am in a strange limbo period. I’m doing a ton of appearances and charity events and I’ve had a few meetings with design companies but it all depends on my schedule. I also just shot a video for the band Telling on Trixie and I got to play a dead body on Law and Order: Special Victim’s Unit. Ferosh!!
