Our final 7 IN 2007 featurette highlights ERIKA FORSTER, one-third of the all-girl keyboard band Au Revoir Simone! Erika is a super sweetheart who has been a fred flare customer for years. She inspires us with her fun jams and awesome style! For more Au Revoir Simone visit aurevoirsimone.com or check ‘em LIVE with David Lynch on January 11th at the Union Square Barnes & Noble. Lastly, if you like that watch necklace that Erika is wearing, please click here. Rock on!

Your band just got back from tour in japan. Any fun adventures?
Every day was an amazing adventure! We were very well cared for but it was pretty hilarious getting around from city to city with all of our gear on public transportation. The shows were amazing and we actually got lots of shy Japanese cuties to dance! When it was all over we did six hours of karaoke and the next day went Xmas shopping, gazed out across the sea of Japan and soaked in a tub of sake at the “heaven baths.”

We’ve heard you have an upcoming performance with David Lynch. Can you tell us a little bit about it? We totes want to go!!
It’s on Jan. 11th at the Union Square Barnes & Noble. David (Mr. Lynch…?) is talking about his new book which is really interesting and talks a lot about meditation. We will probably do a dreamier set and we secretly want to hire a crazy lighting crew. Not sure if that would be okay with the promotors.

We hear you are also a fabric designer. What kind of imagery from the city inspires your work?
I am mostly inspired by nature so, while there is not always abundant natural beauty in Williamsburg, beautiful things really catch your attention and are greatly appreciated.

Who are some of your fave fashion icons?
Francois Hardy, Annie Hall, Stella McCartney, new designer Samantha Pleet

Your upcoming album “The Bird Of Music” will be released in May 2007. Can you tell us what to expect from it? Can’t wait to hear it!
It is our first full-length album. We experimented a lot and had a lot of fun making it. And, though we are an all-keyboard band, we hired strings and horns for a few songs and had some of friends join us in singing. There are a few straight pop songs, a few dreamy ones and some epic journeys… All about love, of course.

Can’t wait. Time for a SPEED ROUND!!

I am glad you featured Erika because I probably would not have found out about the amazing band Au revoir Simone.

My 2-year-old daughter loves them. Also, her name’s Simone…but that’s actually a total coincidence.
